A worrying new trend within the animal agriculture industries is the introduction of so-called 'ag gag' laws,
laws which have already been put into practice in many US states as well as parts of Australia.
Not only do these laws prohibit the photographing or filming of anything that happens within these industries, but they also mis-use anti terrorism laws to punish people who break them at the same levels as those who commit genuine acts of terrorist.
With this in mind we should ask ourselves: Are these the actions of an industry with nothing to hide? Of an industry that cares about improving the welfare of its animals? Or are they rather the actions of an industry that wants consumers kept completely in the dark about the appalling lives of animals raised for food?
