Animal agriculture is the leading cause of a staggering number of environmental issues, from deforestation and land decertification, to river pollution and ocean dead zones. It is also one of the leading causes of man-made greenhouse gas emissions, responsible for more carbon emissions than all types of transportation combined.
With livestock now covering more than a third of the earth's land mass, it seems likely that if its billions of human inhabitants continue their obsession with meat and other animal products, we're heading for a particularly worrying future.
